5 major observations from Jayden Daniels' performance at the NY Giants

Jayden Daniels' blossoming connections
No quarterback can do it alone. Jayden Daniels would be nothing without a strong supporting cast. Two blossoming connections, in particular, were evident throughout the Washington Commanders' game against the New York Giants in Week 9.
It was a slow start to the relationship between Daniels and Terry McLaurin over the opening two games. Things enhanced considerably once offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury opened things up. The Pro Bowl pass-catcher was at his efficient best in this one, gaining two touchdowns from as many receptions.
Another wideout earning increasing trust from Daniels is Noah Brown. He was a late arrival to the setup after final cuts, so it was always going to take time. Faith in the veteran pass-catcher is growing, which is something the dynamic quarterback put to good use at MetLife Stadium.
Brown concluded the contest with five catches from six targets for 60 receiving yards. If Daniels can continue to lean on these two experienced figures, the better his chances will be. If Washington adds another receiver before the trade deadline, the sky's the limit.
Jayden Daniels' efficient first half
Jayden Daniels was left frustrated for most of the first quarter thanks in no small part to the Giants controlling the clock by running the football. Once he got a little extra time to get himself into a rhythm, it didn't take long for the signal-caller to flourish.
Daniels was precise, took control of proceedings pre-snap, displayed his impressive mobility, and made clutch throws in key moments. The Commanders took early control of the contest, holding a 14-point lead at the break. It was also apparent that the player's rib issue wasn't impacting him nearly as much as it did in Week 8.
The Cajon High School product's first-half stats reflected his encouraging performance overall.
- 81.81 percent completion
- 113 passing yards
- 2 touchdowns
- 0 interceptions
- 0 sacks against
- 21 rushing yards
- 149.1 passer rating (ESPN)
It wasn't over, not by any stretch of the imagination. However, Daniels provided the Commanders with another outstanding foundation from which to build. That's been the story of his 2024 campaign so far.
