Adam Peters is in the final stages of planning heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. It's a pivotal selection process for the Washington Commanders, who are on the cusp of something truly special after coming within one victory of the Super Bowl last time around.
Peters recognized this, making some aggressive trades during the offseason to strengthen the options around quarterback sensation Jayden Daniels. Washington's defense received assistance, which came in the form of proven veterans who've been part of big occasions previously.
This represents a solid foundation from which to build. The Commanders are an attractive destination again with their Super Bowl window open. If Peters can navigate his second draft as successfully as his first, Washington will be in a good spot.
That will be difficult. Peters has just five selections at his disposal right now. There's a chance he could bolster this by moving back at some stage, but there's no telling what offers will present themselves. What's not in doubt is the general manager's meticulous preparation, exceptional evaluation, and willingness to act with conviction when opportunities arise.
Some will be watching developments unfold closer than most. With this in mind, here are five Commanders players firmly on the hot seat with the draft on the immediate horizon.

Andrew Wylie - Commanders OT
The Washington Commanders made one monumental splash along their offensive line this offseason. Adam Peters felt the chance to acquire Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans was too good to turn down. This could be a game-changer with big-time benefits if everything goes according to plan.
That hasn't stopped the Commanders from taking an interest in some intriguing edge protectors emerging from the college ranks in 2025. That's not going to impact Tunsil, but that's not the case where Andrew Wylie is concerned.
Wylie didn't give up a sack last season but struggled on an island versus the better pass-rushers around the league. Tunsil's arrival will see Brandon Coleman go to the right-hand side. Dan Quinn stated that he would go to tackle, but the second-year pro will alternate with Wylie to find the correct formula.
If the Commanders spend their first or second-round pick on another offensive tackle, it completely shifts the dynamic. This could send the two-time Super Bowl winner to the fringes, perhaps as the swing tackle spot previously held by Cornelius Lucas.
It's unlikely, but if Peters has an offensive tackle prospect high on Washington's board falling into his lap, he'd be foolish not to pull the trigger.
