The Washington Commanders have the prize in their grasp. One more win will cement their postseason status in 2024. They can accomplish this impressive feat with the entire NFL audience watching on primetime.
That will be the message from head coach Dan Quinn and his staff leading into the contest. The Commanders have worked exceptionally hard to get to this point. Letting it slip now despite being way ahead of preseason expectations is not an option.
The Atlanta Falcons won't be doing them any favors. They sit atop the NFC South and can secure the division with a victory. Of course, they could potentially do this beforehand depending on how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fare at home to the Carolina Panthers — a game that also has ramifications for the Commanders if Dave Canales' men triumph.
That's outside of their control. Quinn wants his squad to focus on what's in front of them and remain professional in a high-pressure situation. They've come through most challenges successfully during a remarkable campaign so far. Now, it's time to finish the job.
Before then, here are five bold predictions for Washington's regular-season home finale versus the Falcons at Northwest Stadium.
Bold predictions for the Commanders in Week 17 vs. Falcons
Brian Robinson Jr. bounces back with two touchdowns
Even though the Washington Commanders came back from a large deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, it wasn't a good afternoon for Brian Robinson Jr. The running back coughed up two fumbles early and became an afterthought in Kliff Kingsbury's offensive game plan. That cannot happen this weekend with the playoffs in sight.
Robinson's overcome plenty of adversity throughout his young career so far. The Atlanta Falcons' run defense is a difficult proposition to overcome led by their impressive 3-4 defensive front. However, the former third-round selection out of Alabama will be striving with everything he has to bounce back and help Washington get over the hump.
Looking at the injuries in the wide receiver room, Robinson will likely carry a heavy burden if he improves ball security. We're tipping him to respond positively and perhaps gain a touchdown or two along the way.
