The last time the Washington Commanders started a season 5-1 was in 1996, just about three decades ago. The result of that season was 9-7 which culminated in missing the playoffs. They also started the season 5-1 four times in the 1980s.

The results of those seasons? Two Super Bowl championships, a loss in the Super Bowl, and a defeat in the conference championship. Those were the days. And with Adam Peters, Dan Quinn, and Jayden Daniels in town, it seems like a re-emergence is going to happen much sooner than expected.

A win this week at the Baltimore Ravens will not only give the Commanders a 5-1 record, but it will prove them to be a legitimate Super Bowl threat as soon as this year. Washington can also make its case as undoubtedly the best team in the NFC East.

With Quinn at the helm and Daniels under center, a new narrative is being written. On top of that, linebacker Frankie Luvu and the Commanders' defense have too much momentum and too many good players catching stride to get blasted again.

On this topic, here are three reasons the Commanders will secure success at M&T Bank Stadium in Week 6.

Reasons the Commanders will beat the Ravens in Week 6

Commanders stuff the run

Jonathan Allen dominated in Week 5. Maybe he needed some time to get used to the new routines. After all, he spent much of his career up until this year being one of the very few bright spots. Seeing him smile during Frankie Luvu's locker room chants is something we haven't ever seen from him.

Allen and Daron Payne must maintain this form in Week 6. They potentially hold the keys to the season in their hands. Stopping Derrick Henry could take them to the next level and beyond.

It's a tall task that most aren't up for, but these two are built for it. With Luvu and Bobby Wagner beginning to show what they can do, there can't be a team in the league better equipped with the tackles needed to slow down the Ravens' inside running game while also being able to keep eyes on Lamar Jackson when he looks to take off running.

If Allen can build his positivity from last week, then the Commanders' victory will be in large part because of their play.
