Commanders must find ways to create turnovers

Through five weeks, the Washington Commanders are one of only three teams in the NFL without an interception. They only have three takeaways in general. This has to change when the opposition gets better.

The only reason this isn't hurting them as much is because of the efficiency with which Jayden Daniels and the offense have played. With most other quarterbacks and most other offenses, this would stand out as an even greater problem than it currently is. However, the Commanders cannot keep relying on Kliff Kingsbury's unit to get them over the line.

Daniels could turn the ball over more. His safety with the ball might not stay at this outstanding clip. Regardless, the defense is going to have to create turnovers if this team is going to maximize their potential.

They got the sacks last week against the Cleveland Browns and forced a few turnovers. Even though it was against struggling quarterback Deshaun Watson, perhaps there is some momentum and belief to take.

Though Lamar Jackson fumbled a few snaps last week, he has thrown nine touchdowns so far this year with one interception. The Commanders are going to have to continue to get more creative as they have recently with their blitz packages and find a way, as crazy as it sounds, to force him to be one-dimensional as a passer.

You don't want to force the Ravens to beat you by way of running because they have one of the best backfields you will see in your life. Head coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. are going to have to accept that Baltimore is going to get yards. That's why any turnovers could play a significant role in the overall outcome in Week 6.

It could be the Commanders' best route to victory. Whether they can accomplish this feat or not is another matter.
