It was an eventful 2023 NFL Draft with plenty of drama attached – especially early on in the process with multiple trades up and down the pecking order. For the Washington Commanders, they found a potential difference-maker in a position of need and more importantly, got the guy those in power wanted despite a couple of fallers that warranted consideration.
Among the news stories making waves include Day 2 of the draft is officially on deck, Chase Young’s status, the Commanders think they’ve found the total package in Emmanuel Forbes, and the latest sale update bringing huge encouragement.

Commanders embark on draft Day 2
After the Washington Commanders solidified their cornerback room at No. 16 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Ron Rivera and his staff and putting the plans in place for what promises to be a fascinating Day 2. And looking at the prospects available, there are numerous avenues the team could go down in pursuit of progression next season.
The Commanders have two picks – at No. 47 and No. 93. Whether trading down becomes an option if someone like quarterback Will Levis is still on the board remains to be seen, but finding offensive line help is an absolute must after two NFC East rivals fortified their defensive fronts in Round No. 1.
It’ll be interesting to see what moves remain for the Commanders. But they seem pretty pleased with how things unfolded on opening night.
