6 tight ends the Commanders could select in the 2023 NFL Draft
Commanders could draft Luke Musgrave
- Selection – Round No. 2 (Pick No. 47)
- Height – 6-foot-6 | Weight – 253 pounds
- 2022 statistics -11 receptions |169 receiving yards | 1 touchdown
Luke Musgrave, unfortunately, had his 2022 campaign cut short due to a knee injury. Although in his two games played last season, he showed his elite athleticism and receiving skills.
Now, we don’t have much tape of a polished Musgrave. But from what we’ve seen, he is a large receiving tight end with the ability to get downfield for yards after the catch.
When running his routes, the separation from defenders is above average. With Musgrave’s size and athleticism, he would be an immediate red-zone option creating mismatch opportunities wherever he is deployed.
Projected in the second round, the Washington Commanders can address cornerback or the offensive line in Round No. 1 and then use this pick to grab another weapon in an already dynamic offense.
Musgrave also looks like the sort of player that would take Eric Bieniemy’s eye. As stated previously, his scheme on the Kansas City Chiefs was dependent on tight-end influence in the passing game, so this cannot be dismissed entirely if everything checks out medically.
