Commanders feeding off Eric Bieniemy’s energy
This year’s draft has an extra layer of fascination thanks to Eric Bieniemy’s presence. The assistant head coach/offensive coordinator wasted no time in making his presence felt across the franchise following his bombshell switch from the Kansas City Chiefs, which is something that will no doubt continue when the time comes to bring the latest group of college prospects to the franchise.
Bieniemy and Ron Rivera have developed a good working relationship quickly. There’s a lot riding on the upcoming season for both, so hitting the ground running was of paramount importance given the urgency for major improvements in 2023.
When discussing the impact Bieniemy made throughout the pre-draft process, it’s clear that the head coach and the Commanders, in general, are feeding off his energy. Something that should stand them in tremendous stead when the pivotal weekend arrives.
"“It’s been very interesting. Very energetic. The dude is always on the go. … We’ve all learned pretty quickly what he’s looking for in terms of players fitting.”"
Coming from a two-time Super Bowl-winning organization gives Bieniemy a significant amount of weight immediately. The Commanders are giving him a huge say in personnel matters, which could see their draft picks center around the offense if the right opportunities present themselves.
