Commanders could draft Devon Witherspoon

Arguably the most well-rounded cornerback in this year’s class, Devon Witherspoon would be a dream come true for the Washington Commanders. However, the chances of the Illinois product making it out of the top 10 appear remote at this juncture.

Witherspoon’s physicality sets him apart from the rest. His work ethic is phenomenal and the footwork already looks NFL-ready, so it wouldn’t be a great shock to see him go off the board once the expected run on quarterbacks concludes.

Commanders could draft Tyrique Stevenson

If the Commanders want a little extra bang for their buck, then Tyrique Stevenson could be a possibility on Day 2. He boasts the length and frame needed to make a smooth adjustment to the NFL, which also makes the former Miami Hurricane a threat in contested catch situations, too.

One thing that might put the Commanders off is Stevenson’s drop-off in performance when tasked with zone responsibilities – something Jack Del Rio implements frequently. Therefore, those in power would need to be confident in their coaching capabilities to bring this particular prospect into the fold.

Commanders could draft Deonte Banks

Deonte Banks has emerged from unheralded to a legitimate first-rounder after a starring 2022 campaign at Maryland, which was followed by wowing scouts and evaluators throughout the testing process. Something that also comes across on tape – the biggest positive of all when push comes to shove.

Banks isn’t scheme dependent, can impact running plays, and is evolving as a true field general to further enhance his stock. The Commanders would benefit greatly from the player’s tenacity and athletic prowess, which could be enough for Del Rio’s defense to enter the truly elite category next season.
