4 major gambles the Commanders cannot afford in the 2023 NFL Draft

Commanders can’t gamble on Bijan Robinson
The introduction of Eric Bieniemy to the Washington Commanders brings a significant amount of intrigue. Something that could prove once and for all the respected offensive mind is more than worthy of becoming an NFL head coach down the line.
Bieniemy is getting full control of the offense and is having a leading say in personnel. Something that could lead to a shock or two during the 2023 NFL Draft is the right opportunities present themselves.
If Bijan Robinson is still on the board at No. 16 overall, the Commanders have a big decision to make. The running back is arguably the most gifted overall player in this class and comes to the next level with All-Pro upside given his career accomplishments to date.
While some fans are clamoring for the Commanders to bring Robinson into the fold, they should look the other way. This has nothing to do with the prospect’s talent – which is nothing short of astonishing – but it’s a gamble those in power cannot afford with many other needs to fill.
The Commanders also have two capable running backs in the form of Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson, who could thrive under Bieniemy’s guidance. Adding one in the mid-rounds cannot be dismissed after releasing J.D. McKissic, but taking the former Texas stud when the offensive line and cornerback room are crying out for immediate assistance is a luxury they’d be wise to dismiss.
