Commanders could draft O’Cyrus Torrence

This is considered to be an extremely deep class of interior offensive linemen. However, there is no disputing who the top prospect at the position is as the 2023 pre-draft process winds down.

O’Cyrus Torrence is an absolute brute force. He has the scope to become a Day 1 starter with an extremely high upside, which could come with Pro Bowl or better recognition if everything goes according to plan.

Torrence is coming off an exceptional college career at Florida where he dominated almost everybody. He is a huge man and well-proportioned to the extent that if someone was to create an interior NFL lineman in a lab, it wouldn’t look too dissimilar.

But size isn’t where Torrence’s impressive attributes stop. He is an elite pass-protector over a prolonged period, giving up few pressures and no sacks throughout a glittering four-year stint with the Gators.

There’s also a lot to like about Torrence’s run blocking, which is ruthless, powerful, and technically sound in equal measure. He goes looking for work, is athletic enough to rise to the second level quickly, and also boasts enough core functional strength to generate push in short-yardage situations.

The Washington Commanders could upgrade instantly by bringing Torrence into the fold. Taking him at No. 16 overall is a little high, but it’s an absolute no-brainer if the player is around at No. 47 – however unlikely that might be.
