4 Relative Athletic Score gods the Commanders could draft in 2023
By Dean Jones
Which prospects who nailed their Relative Athletic Scores could come under consideration by the Washington Commanders during the 2023 NFL Draft?
The Washington Commanders have an abundance of options at their disposal heading into the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s been a modest offseason in terms of player recruitment so far as ownership continues to be in flux for a few more weeks at least, so finding productive players from the college ranks represents the best chance to enhance chances of a postseason bid next season.
It’s been an exhausting evaluation process for those in power. Hundreds of interviews, informal meetings, and top 30 visits have taken place, which will go a long way to determining who goes where on the Commanders’ draft board ahead of the big weekend.
Another factor with increasing influence is the Relative Athletic Score (RAS), which was devised by Kent Lee Platte and takes into account measurables and testing scores to come up with a mark out of ten.
With this in mind, here are four Relative Athletic Score gods the Commanders could draft in 2023.
Prospect No. 1
Commanders could draft Deonte Banks
- Cornerback | Maryland Terrapins
- Relative Athletic Score – 9.99/10
Deonte Banks has flown into first-round consideration after being a mid-round prospect before the 2022 campaign. The Washington Commanders have also taken an interest in the defensive back, which is a position of need despite picking up Cameron Dantzler Sr. off the waiver wire during the early stages of free agency.
Banks scored a whopping 9.99 RAS and this comes across on tape. The corner is fast, physical, and explosive in equal measure, boasting the physicality and swagger that’s been sorely missing from the Commanders’ cornerback room in recent seasons.
