Dan Snyder is finally out. Celebrate with new Washington shirts.
Dan Snyder bought the (then) Washington Redskins in 1999. Now, 24 long years later, he’s finally gone. Washington Commanders fans rejoice, because D.C. is a football town again!
There’s a litany of reasons that Washington fans don’t like Snyder. His poor treatment of coaches early in his tenure (particularly Norv Turner and Marty Schottenheimer), his way too hands-on approach to team building, the Jim Zorn era, price increases… the list goes on.
But the craziest thing might have been that he managed to get Prince George’s County to BAN pedestrians from walking to FedEx Field on game days. He did this in order to get people to A) pay to park at the stadium or B) pay to park at an old strip mall and then get shuttled to FedEx.
This ban… on WALKING… lasted for four years.
So, yeah, I don’t think many Washington Commanders fans will be shedding tears over Dan Snyder selling the team. Actually, I take that back.
There will be tears.
Tears of joy.
