Commanders could draft Devon Achane

No team can ever have enough productive players at the skill positions. The Washington Commanders boast many game-changers in this regard, which was one of the big reasons why Eric Bieniemy opted to leave Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs following their memorable Super Bowl triumph.

If Bieniemy feels like another running back is needed, then the Commanders should listen. Looking at the way the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator utilized the position with the Chiefs, someone like Devon Achane should be on the shortlist.

Achane might not be the biggest running back to ever grace the league, but he plays much larger than his 5-foot-8 frame. The former Texas A&M stud also has an elite-level speed for the position – something that was further demonstrated by his 4.32-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine.

This makes Achane a substantial threat every time he touches the ball. But the player is not overly reliant on his quickness alone – he is explosive and also has enough agility to bend the edge with ease in pursuit of big gains.

While Achane doesn’t have the normal frame associated with an every-down back, there’s just no telling how much the Commanders would benefit from his presence within Bieniemy’s creative offensive scheme.
