Kendall Fuller – Commanders CB

This doesn’t make a ton of sense right now. Kendall Fuller is the most experienced cornerback on the Washington Commanders that performed adequately enough last season to warrant another go-around in 2023.

However, it’s highly likely that the Commanders will bolster their secondary during the draft. The No. 16 overall selection could be used on a cornerback with shutdown potential, which would give Jack Del Rio’s defense a productive foursome following the arrival of Cameron Dantzler Sr. after he was waived by the Minnesota Vikings.

If the Commanders spend another of their eight picks on a cornerback or even a safety with outstanding coverage capabilities, trading Fuller becomes more realistic if the right offer comes along. Something the team did with a veteran player at the position last year when they shipped William Jackson III to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There is also some significant financial benefit to trading Fuller. According to Over the Cap, this move would save the Commanders $8.5 million in 2023, which is almost enough to sign their entire draft class currently.

Again, this comes down to any potential interest, the compensation, and whether the Commanders can find themselves upgrades from the collegiate level. But considering the stakes for Washington next season, Fuller’s experience could be vital.
