Commanders hired Bobby Engram

It didn’t take long for Eric Bieniemy to ring the coaching changes once his landmark switch from the Kansas City Chiefs was confirmed. The assistant head coach/offensive coordinator has taken a calculated risk by joining the Washington Commanders – a move he feels can be the final piece of the puzzle en route to a top job somewhere in 2024.

Bieniemy was the marquee, high-profile appointment. But the arrival of Bobby Engram as the team’s new wide receivers’ coach could also provide a significant spark when competitive action resumes once again.

There is a lot to like about Engram’s credentials. He enjoyed a long playing career spanning 14 years, 7,751 receiving yards, and 35 touchdowns for three different teams – which is sure to carry a lot of weight in the locker room when he gets to work.

Engram has NFL coaching experience and recently held the offensive coordinator position at Wisconsin. This makes him the ideal candidate to take an outstanding group of young wide receivers in Washington to a completely different level.

Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel are already accomplished. Jahan Dotson looks set for a breakout campaign in 2022 and Engram’s presence could also help Dyami Brown become more influential with former college teammate Sam Howell set to assume command under center.

The talent is there for all to see. Engram’s fresh set of ideas and proven credentials are only going to assist throughout the preparation period.
