4 Tennessee prospects Eric Bieniemy could want for Commanders in 2023

Commanders could draft Darnell Wright
The Washington Commanders picked up two new starters for their offensive line in free agency, which was welcome and necessary in equal measure. Nick Gates and Andrew Wylie should improve consistency and leadership within the locker room, which is a solid platform for Eric Bieniemy as he aims to take this offense into a completely different stratosphere in 2023.
Despite this, it shouldn’t stop the Commanders from taking a premier prospect early in the 2023 NFL Draft if the right opportunity comes along. Something that would provide further encouragement for a unit that became a serious weak link during the previous campaign.
Bieniemy was on hand at Tennessee’s pro day to get a look at Darnell Wright. The offensive tackle has been on a rapid rise throughout the pre-draft evaluation process, with many analysts projecting the player to be taken in the first 20 selections when the big weekend arrives.
There’s a lot to like about the athleticism, footwork, technique, and physicality Wright brings to the table. Something that drew significant praise from ESPN analyst Louis Riddick on social media recently.
"“OT Darnell Wright going to be a Pro Bowl/All Pro his rookie season. In consideration in my mind for best overall player in this draft when it is all said and done. Should be a GREAT pro.”"
If the Commanders want Wright, they’ll have to take him at No. 16 overall. And even then, he might not be around when one considers the momentum being generated by the prospect at the best possible time.
