Could the Washington Commanders boost their tight end options during the 2023 NFL Draft with a high-upside prospect such as Luke Musgrave?

While the arrival of Eric Bieniemy comes with a significant amount of intrigue, the Washington Commanders still have some questions to answer at the tight-end position. This bears more significance when one considers how successfully the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator has utilized the spot as part of his creative scheme.

Of course, not every team has the benefit of someone like Travis Kelce – a generational tight end that is a sure-fire candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame once he hangs it up. However, for Bienimey to maximize his big move from the Kansas City Chiefs, the Commanders need more from the position group.

Logan Thomas has flashed, but the veteran’s inconsistencies are evident. Cole Turner and Armani Rogers have room to grow and could see more involvement, with John Bates seen as a blocking specialist rather than someone that can emerge into the complete package.

Washington has ignored a rich crop of free-agent tight ends. Therefore, examining one of the deepest draft classes at the spot in recent memory is something those in power should seriously consider.

One of the best is Luke Musgrave, who looks to have everything normally associated with productive pass-catching tight ends at the next level. Someone that could have a Kelce-like impression now Bieniemy is in a different environment.

We took a closer look at Musgrave’s skill set and how he might fit into the Commanders in our latest scouting report ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.
