Carson Wentz could join the Ravens

Aside from the Aaron Rodgers saga, there is one other big quarterback storyline that’s hogging the headlines this off-season. Lamar Jackson’s situation with the Baltimore Ravens officially looks past the point of no return, with the former NFL MVP revealing on social media that he formally handed in a trade request earlier this month before getting the non-exclusive franchise tag.

While the Washington Commanders and others around the league have ruled themselves out of the running, a player of Jackson’s caliber doesn’t become available too often. Especially considering the signal-caller is just entering his prime years.

Just where the Ravens would go if Jackson leaves is anyone’s guess. They did place a tender on Tyler Huntley that hasn’t been matched as yet, but adding a veteran is critical should the one-time Louisville stud take his chances elsewhere.

Carson Wentz is arguably the best remaining free agent on the market. But that’s not saying much considering how many veterans have already been snapped up over the first two weeks of free agency.

This gives the Ravens a potential bridge option and mentor for Huntley if he is the guy. Although having two extra first-round picks in this scenario means a bold trade-up for one of the top quarterback prospects couldn’t be dismissed entirely.

The clock is ticking for Wentz. And in truth, he might have to wait a little longer yet before another organization comes calling.
