Eric Bieniemy – Commanders AHC/OC

For all the free-agent signings, young talent already on the roster, and the prospect of more high-quality additions via the 2023 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders will be counting on one man more than most to move the needle next season.

Eric Bieniemy.

Washington’s marquee coaching addition is taking a leap of faith after deciding to leave the Kansas City Chiefs. Bieniemy needed it in pursuit of becoming a future head coach and if he thrives with full offensive control, this could come as soon as next year.

Bieniemy is also getting a big say in personnel and has molded the staff under him as he sees fit. The respected figure brings a more expansive scheme to the Commanders and looking at the skill positions, the potential is there for all to see.

The Commanders must strengthen their offensive line and there is a chance neither quarterback works out. But for now, the signs are nothing but positive and hopefully, this is a trend that can continue when competitive games commence later this year.

This is Bieniemy’s big chance to prove beyond all doubt he has what it takes to run an NFL franchise from a coaching standpoint. A strong case could be made for the fact he’s already done that and more, but this would leave another team with no option other than to give the offensive wizard a well-deserved promotion.
