Commanders will work out DeMarvion Overshown

  • Linebacker | Texas Longhorns

The Washington Commanders brought in Anthony Walker Jr. for a visit this week. Although it reportedly went well, the linebacker left without a deal thanks in no small part to the lack of funds available to the team currently.

As stated previously, the only realistic avenue Washington has to strengthen unless some significant sacrifices are made is via the next batch of college recruits. And they need an injection of life at the defensive second level pretty early in the process.

There appears to be some interest in DeMarvion Overshown, which isn’t surprising. The former Texas standout looks like an underrated three-down presence that can become a factor in all phases, which could assist in a key rotational piece before developing into a long-term starter.

Overshown is fast, agile, and explosive. He can get after the passer when called upon and his previous experience as a defensive back also makes him a valuable commodity in coverage for good measure.

While Overshown isn’t the biggest for an NFL linebacker, the positives far outweigh the negatives. And defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will know exactly how to put him in the best possible position to thrive.
