4 young Commanders players heading for bigger roles in 2023

Armani Rogers – Commanders TE
The Washington Commanders have some questions to answer at the tight-end position. Those in power have declared publicly how happy they are with their current options, but ignoring a strong 2023 NFL Draft class would be malpractice based on the quality emerging from the college ranks.
Of those currently on the roster, perhaps the most intriguing is Armani Rogers. The former wide receiver switched positions in 2022 and adjusted well, even if targets were hard to come by for the one-time Ohio standout.
Rogers has the size and athleticism to become a pass-catching force. There is a lot of hard work ahead for the player this offseason, but he’d be a surprise most teams wouldn’t see coming based on his inexperience at the NFL level.
Being a former wideout, Rogers is already a polished route runner and has the speed to create mismatches from the slot. He’s also bulked up notably in recent months, which should help as the player looks to enhance the blocking aspect of his game.
This is a big chance for Rogers. If Eric Bieniemy likes what he sees throughout the offseason, then don’t be surprised if he ends up becoming a part of the team’s plans on offense.
