Which prospects could the Washington Commanders reach for at No. 16 overall during the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft?

With the early stages of free agency now firmly in the rearview mirror, attention is slowly turning once again to the 2023 NFL Draft. For the Washington Commanders, this represents a chance to bring in some instant difference-makers and future stars that can form the building blocks of a successful future.

It’s been an underwhelming free agency period so far with no real big names coming into the fold. However, this was never going to be the case given the need to extend Daron Payne and the way Ron Rivera’s gone about his business since becoming head coach.

Washington’s acquired some decent veterans that could assist in 2023. If they can hit on the majority of their eight selections during the draft, then a potential playoff spot might not be too far-fetched despite the strength within the NFC East.

Taking a gamble or two might also be considered. With this in mind, here are four prospects the Commanders could reach for at No. 16 overall.

Commanders could draft O’Cyrus Torrence

  • Offensive Line | Florida Gators

Although the need for one or two quality offensive linemen from the college level is evident, selecting O’Cyrus Torrence this high up the pecking order would be a reach. The former Florida standout has all the tools needed to thrive at the next level, but there is value to be had where interior linemen are concerned later in the draft to also consider.

Couple this with other -perhaps more pressing – needs, and the Washington Commanders would be wise to focus their attention elsewhere despite the immense gifts Torrence brings to the table.
