Commanders could sign Foster Moreau (TE)

There are a lot of ifs in the Washington Commanders’ tight end room right now. If Logan Thomas, who turns 32 years old this summer, returns from multiple injuries to regain the top-level form he showed in 2020, it’s all systems go.

If their 2022 draft selection Cole Turner overcomes the injury bug that essentially wiped out his entire rookie campaign, the potential for growth is obvious. And if the previously unheralded Armani Rogers builds on his eye-opening talent that was on display in limited action early last season, an increased role could be in the offing.

Should more than one of these transpire, the Commanders do not need to worry about finding a receiving threat at the position. Of those, I think the Rogers gamble is the best one, and that does not fill me with confidence.

Foster Moreau is not much of a blocker. He isn’t as good a receiver as Darren Waller, the man he played behind on the Las Vegas Raiders for the last four seasons. But whenever he got a chance to be on the field, the player showed that he was a dangerous receiver.

That was playing for a topsy-turvy, mostly dysfunctional operation in Vegas. Let the offensive coordinator who helped turn Travis Kelce into a future Pro Football Hall of Famer get a crack at him and I suspect Moreau could keep ascending.
