Grading the latest four notable Commanders moves in 2023 free agency

Commanders re-signed Efe Obada
Daron Payne was the first defensive lineman to get a well-deserved extension from the Washington Commanders. And in another expected move, the team also brought back Efe Obada to further bolster their options.
This is nothing more than Obada deserves. He’s carved out a tremendous niche for himself since joining the NFL, with his versatility and ability to make the most out of every rep that comes his way coming in for significant praise.
Obada’s first NFL chance came under Ron Rivera with the Carolina Panthers. After securing four sacks, eight quarterback hits, and 10 pressures from just 37 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, it more than warranted an extended stay in Washington.
The Nigerian-born star will occupy a depth role once again behind a stout defensive front that’s loaded with first-round talent. If nothing else, Obada represents a good fallback option in the event Chase Young cannot overcome the injury problems that have hindered his development over the last two seasons.
Grade: B-
Every team needs players like Obada. Selfless, highly motivated, and capable of stepping in at a moment’s notice to ensure no momentum is lost, which can hopefully continue as the defensive end looks to make another big impact in 2023.
