4 Commanders players who’ll benefit from early free-agent moves in 2023
By Dean Jones
Which Washington Commanders players stand to benefit from the team’s early moves throughout 2023 free agency so far?
There haven’t been any major splashes from the Washington Commanders during free agency to date. But in all honesty, nobody expected there to be given how Ron Rivera has done business since joining the organization.
Rivera has continued to reward those on the roster for their contributions rather than spending big on veterans on the market. A few intriguing signings have been made at problem positions and there is still some cash remaining to make a move or two if the right opportunities come along.
It’s also worth remembering that the Commanders have eight selections during the 2023 NFL Draft to further bolster their ranks. Needs from the college ranks have become clearer over the last few days, which could change further depending on what transpires over the next month.
For now, here are four Commanders players who could benefit most from the team’s early free-agent activity in 2023.
Player No. 1
Sam Cosmi – Commanders OL
Even though the Washington Commanders picked up two veteran offensive linemen, Sam Cosmi‘s hopes of involvement haven’t diminished whatsoever. Many expect the former second-round pick to form the right-hand partnership with Andrew Wylie, although where both will turn out has yet to be determined.
Cosmi was probably nervously looking over his shoulder and still is until further notice. However, it could have been much worse for the player heading into an important Year 3 of his professional career.
