The Washington Commanders have their veteran quarterback, but how can Jacoby Brissett help the organization in 2023?

With veteran quarterbacks flying off the free-agent market, the Washington Commanders didn’t want to be caught short. Thankfully for fans, they ended up with one of the top remaining options available.

According to multiple reports, the Commanders signed Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal with $8 million guaranteed. This fills the void left by Taylor Heinicke, who recently joined the Atlanta Falcons for a similar financial outlay.

Brissett performed well for the Cleveland Browns while Deshaun Watson was suspended last season. His 59.9 QBR was among the league’s highest and Washington beat others to land their signal-caller of choice.

This looks like a high-value pickup. With that being said, here are three ways Brissett can help the Commanders in 2023.

Jacoby Brissett brings leadership to the Commanders

One thing that Jacoby Brissett brings to the Washington Commanders is leadership. He leads by example and is meticulous in his game week preparations, which are traits other players naturally gravitate towards based on his career to date.

This will be invaluable for the Commanders and Sam Howell, who is heading into a crucial second offseason with a real opportunity. Brissett will assist as a good teammate, but he didn’t sign to be a backup after catching the eye in 2022.
