Commanders could sign Cory Littleton

Finding help at the defensive second level is another big priority for the Washington Commanders. They’ve met with a number of gifted prospects set to enter the 2023 NFL Draft, but adding a free agent should also be contemplated when one considers the immense pressure on Ron Rivera’s shoulders next season.

As stated previously, money is tight. And there is a clear need to spend a significant amount of financial resources on the offensive line to give Eric Bieniemy the best possible chance of taking Washington’s offense to completely different heights next season.

If the Commanders are forced to identify cheaper options to improve depth, then Cory Littleton is worth further examination. The former Pro Bowler played well for the Carolina Panthers in 2022 before injury hindered his progress, so this could be a shrewd addition at a team-friendly cost all things considered.

One area where Littleton thrives is in coverage. He reacts to things extremely well and can identify where the football is going quickly, which the Commanders’ current linebacking options struggled to accomplish more often than not.

Asking Littleton to fill starting duties would be a risk. But this is a significant upgrade for Washington’s rotation and looks like a decent scheme fit for Jack Del Rio without much financial outlay attached.
