5 realistic goals for the Washington Commanders in 2023 free agency

Commanders must find CB help
In addition to finding multiple reinforcements on the offensive line, securing cornerbacks that can assist immediately is something else that should be high on the Washington Commanders’ shortlist. Especially after the team released Bobby McCain.
There are numerous intriguing prospects at the top end of the 2023 NFL Draft to ponder. But considering the need for Washington to make improvements with the prospect of new ownership coming into the fold, adding a capable free agent shouldn’t be dismissed entirely.
This is a decent crop of pending free agents at the position. James Bradberry, Shaquill Griffin, and James Dean could be on the expensive side, with the likes of Tre Flowers and Cameron Sutton representing mid-level alternatives that could assist with a smooth transition to Jack Del Rio’s scheme.
Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste will remain part of the team’s plans unless something drastic occurs. But the Commanders need more and this is not a time for the front office to be hesitant when it comes to player recruitment.
Signing a free agent and getting a high-upside prospect from the college ranks could make a substantial difference. One that could send Washington’s defense into the elite category at a critical time for some within the franchise.
