Commanders could sign Andre Dillard

Another option for the Washington Commanders if they chose to go down the free-agent route is Andre Dillard. The player might not have reached the heights anticipated of a high-end draft selection, but he’s been productive when called upon and could thrive further once installed into a starting lineup.

Injuries didn’t help Dillard’s cause early on. The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t wait around for him to recuperate and this resulted in backup duties behind their phenomenal tackle tandem of Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

Dillard is set to enter free agency and it’s unlikely the Eagles will keep him around given how many other established players are looking for new deals. This should get the attention of many tackle-needy teams around the league that might see the Washington State product as a potential bargain.

While it’s not been an easy road for Dillard, he’s only just entering his prime and has the scope to play outside or inside depending on the fit. This versatility is only going to enhance intrigue and the Commanders could do far worse than bring him into the fold.

There’s no doubt Dillard represents an upgrade on anything Washington has currently. The biggest question is whether he’s a big enough one to warrant the money.
