Commanders could sign Jawaan Taylor

  • Offensive Tackle | Jacksonville Jaguars

As stated previously, nobody would complain if there were four new starters across the offensive line next season. This group has been band-aided for far too long and if Eric Bieniemy wants to get this offense trending upward in 2023, establishing forceful protection will play a significant part in any progress.

Although the interior needs a makeover, every contending team around the league has a bookend tackle tandem. Something the Washington Commanders haven’t been able to accumulate despite throwing money and draft picks on their edge options following the Trent Williams trade.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will work hard on an extension after a standout campaign in 2022. But Jawaan Taylor is a player entering his prime that would be a sensational addition to the Commanders.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, there could be countless suitors for Taylor thanks to his durability and exceptional pass protection. Something that could command the former second-round pick between $17-18 million per year along the way.

Now that the Jaguars have placed the franchise tag on Evan Engram, the chances of Taylor hitting the market are high. It’ll take a huge offer, but premier pass-protectors don’t grow on trees and the Commanders should be keeping a close eye on developments.
