4 Manic Monday cuts that could interest the Commanders in 2023

Commanders could sign Eric Kendricks
One of the biggest dominos to fall on Monday was the Minnesota Vikings opting to part ways with All-Pro linebacker Eric Kendricks. This ends the player’s long association with the organization, which was widely expected considering the cap savings involved for a team with very little financial wiggle room currently.
Kendricks had a down year in 2022 compared to his usual high standards. But switching to a 3-4 base scheme played a significant role in this and there could be life in his production yet once he finds a better fit.
The Washington Commanders are looking for assistance at the defensive second level. Ron Rivera is obviously keen to bring back Cole Holcomb after some encouraging performances pre-injury last season, but acquiring a veteran like Kendricks should also be considered given how much is on the line in 2023.
While his best days might be gone, Kendricks’ communication, leadership, and ability against the run remain of the highest caliber. There were some deficiencies in coverage last time around, so the Commanders need to ensure the right pieces are around the one-time UCLA star to avoid further complications.
If the money suits all parties, this makes a ton of sense. Something that could also provide Jamin Davis with an experienced role model to learn from heading into a crucial third season in Washington.
