4 free-agent linebackers the Commanders could sign in 2023

Commanders could sign Germaine Pratt
It didn’t take long for Germaine Pratt to become a consistent performer. The former third-round pick immediately made his presence felt with the Cincinnati Bengals and heads into free agency on the back of arguably the best campaign of his professional career to date.
Pratt is physical, leaving a mark with almost every tackle. His communication at the second level has progressed with every passing season and although the player’s pass-rushing needs work, he more than makes up for this with sound coverage skills.
The one-time North Carolina State standout is entering his prime and should command a nice sum in free agency. Cincinnati will do all they can to keep him around, but won’t want to overpay with a bumper contract due for star quarterback Joe Burrow in the near future.
This would be an instant upgrade on anything the Washington Commanders have on their books currently. Ron Rivera recently highlighted his desire to get a deal worked out with Cole Holcomb, but that shouldn’t put the franchise off from seeking better options ahead of a hugely important campaign.
Pratt fits the mold and then some. His 80.6 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2022 is a testament to his well-rounded capabilities, which is set to command an annual salary of $10.62 million according to Spotrac.
