Which free-agent linebackers could the Washington Commanders potentially sign if they hit the market in 2023?

Things went relatively smoothly for the Washington Commanders’ defense in 2022. Jack Del Rio seems to be getting a decent tune out of his talented group, so one or two additions this offseason could propel them and the team overall to greater heights next time around.

Obviously, the cornerback position is the biggest priority. But if the Commanders want to take the next step defensively, then finding an upgrade at middle linebacker should also be considered.

While an ambitious move for perennial All-Pro Bobby Wagner could provide immediate assistance, this looks like a pretty good group of second-level defenders overall depending on which ones are allowed to test the free-agent market later this month.

With that being said, here are four free-agent linebackers the Commanders could sign in 2023.

Commanders could sign Devin Bush

While Devin Bush has yet to reach the heights expected of a top 10 selection, this could be an intriguing option for the Washington Commanders. And in all honesty, a change of scenery could be exactly what the player needs if the Pittsburgh Steelers let him test the market.

Bush has flaws, especially in coverage. But his fiery attitude coupled with sound run defense could mesh well behind a stout Commanders’ defensive front that’s loaded with first-round talent.
