Commanders could draft Broderick Jones
- Offensive Tackle | Georgia Bulldogs
It’s no secret that the Washington Commanders need to completely rethink their offensive line options. It was a campaign of significant underachievement for the unit in 2022, which could lead to multiple changes to the starting lineup depending on what signings the team can make this off-season.
Washington will explore the free-agent market heavily. But finding long-term answers via the 2023 NFL Draft is something that can bring cheaper alternatives with arguably more upside.
One player that might be around for the Commanders at No. 16 overall is Broderick Jones. The Georgia product built on his sensational final season with the national-champion Bulldogs at the NFL Scouting Combine, displaying the speed, quickness, and explosiveness that could make him a Day 1 starter with further refinement.
Jones moves with so much fluidity for a man his size. It’s hard to believe he’s 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds with this type of agility, which is sure to go down well at the next level if some technical aspects of his play are ironed out throughout the preparation period.
This is a player that should be high on the Commanders’ list of options. Jones has the production and attributes to develop further in the coming years, which could be the answer to Washington’s prayers either at right or left tackle.
