Which Washington Commanders are entering make-or-break situations during the 2023 offseason and when the upcoming campaign begins?

We are now just over a week away from the legal tampering period beginning and a frenzy of player movement around the NFL. For the Washington Commanders, it represents a chance to put the necessary foundations in place for a successful season in 2023.

This looks feasible considering the money that should be available and the eight draft picks at their disposal. However, the recent NFLPA survey didn’t paint the Commanders in the greatest light – something that probably won’t change until Dan Snyder sells the franchise sooner rather than later.

It’s hard to magnify just how important this offseason is for many across the franchise. The potential for new ownership only raises the stakes, so making false moves is simply not an option.

With this in mind, here are four Commanders who are entering make-or-break situations in 2023.

Martin Mayhew – Commanders GM

After the failed trade for Carson Wentz and other suspect moves during his first season as general manager, Martin Mayhew cannot afford to make the same mistakes this time around. Something the front office figure is no doubt aware of with the added pressure of a potential sale on the immediate horizon.

Mayhew’s strong working relationship with Ron Rivera and his intent to lean heavily on other prominent coaches should assist throughout the process. But if it all goes wrong, this could be his last season with the Washington Commanders.
