Byron Young has his sights set on Commanders

The Washington Commanders have taken advantage of Nick Saban’s thriving program at Alabama plenty over the last few years. This is one of college football’s biggest pro pipelines and has been for some time, which brought some highly skilled individuals onto the roster who’ve all transitioned well.

Whether more Crimson Tide prospects make their way to Washington this time around has yet to be determined. But one prospect is extremely keen to join some former college teammates and those who paved the way previously.

Byron Young is projected to be a mid-round selection. The defensive tackle position might not be a serious need for the Commanders after placing the franchise tag on Daron Payne, but that hasn’t stopped the hopeful from dreaming about joining the Commanders at some stage throughout the all-important selection process.

"“I would love to go there. I would love to reunite with (Phidarian Mathis)…it would be great to be up there with him…with (Brian Robinson Jr.), Jonathan Allen, (and Daron Payne) all guys who played at Alabama who really set the standard.”"

Young and Mathis are especially close having come out one year apart. However, sentiment counts for nothing in the NFL, and Washington has far greater needs to fill before contemplating picking another defensive tackle.
