With the prospect of new owners coming into the fold sooner rather than later, the Washington Commanders could potentially look to make a marquee move in pursuit of convincing someone like Jeff Bezos to take the plunge.

There is much more to it, obviously. But it wouldn’t hurt coming off the back of landing Eric Bieniemy from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jalen Ramsey ticks the boxes in that regard. He is one of the NFL’s best and most recognizable defensive players, bringing a mentality and swagger that’s been sorely lacking in Washington over recent years.

Of course, the cost might put the franchise off. But it’s not like the Los Angeles Rams are blessed with great leverage considering their clear intent to start fresh after missing the postseason in 2022.

The Commanders were renowned for making bold moves once upon a time. Some went better than others, but it would be a huge shock if Ramsey didn’t completely shift the landscape in this hypothetical scenario.

Ramsey could instantly legitimize Washington’s chances of challenging next season. He’s been to the top of the mountain before – as has Bieniemy – so having these proven winners on board in the same offseason would revolutionize the team’s way of thinking.

Will it happen? Unlikely, but it cannot be dismissed entirely.
