3 Commanders who could see more action under Eric Bieniemy in 2023
By Dean Jones
Which Washington Commanders players could see more time on the field under new assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy in 2023?
The appointment of Eric Bieniemy has brought renewed hope to the Washington Commanders. They missed the postseason narrowly last time around thanks in no small part to their offensive inefficiency, which is something that could alter substantially with the two-time Super Bowl winner running things.
This obviously brings plenty of questions. Both in terms of potential incomings, the future of free agents, and how those currently under contract could be deployed.
One of the things that probably enticed Bieniemy was the number of skill position options that can be utilized. Washington looks pretty deep at wide receiver and running back, but the offensive line needs to be reinforced for the new arrival to make a real go of things next season.
With that being said, here are three Commanders players that could – and perhaps should – see more action under Bieniemy in 2023.
Player No. 1
Cole Turner – Commanders TE
It’s an extremely small sample size to go off, but Cole Turner‘s pass-catching ability from the tight end position is something Eric Bieniemy could use in 2023. Although this is dependent on what the Washington Commanders do with Logan Thomas and how much the former Nevada star can develop this off-season.
Turner has the athleticism – albeit lacking the explosiveness normally associated with productive players at the position. He’ll get a chance to prove himself with Bieniemy watching on, but further competition could arrive via free agency or the 2023 NFL Draft.
