5 prospects Commanders must monitor at 2023 NFL Scouting Combine

Commanders must monitor Dalton Kincaid
- Tight End | Utah Utes
Eric Bieniemy’s arrival comes with a significant amount of intrigue. It could also mean some big changes are on the horizon in terms of scheme structure and personnel before competitive action begins in 2023.
One positional group that might need an upgrade is the tight end spot. Logan Thomas could benefit from Bieniemy’s presence, but John Bates and Cole Turner remain relative unknowns based on their limited reps on the offensive rotation since entering the league.
Considering how reliant Bieniemy and Andy Reid’s system was on tight-end production, finding a pass-catcher from the college ranks could be something the Washington Commanders consider. Keeping tabs on Dalton Kincaid during the NFL Scouting Combine would be a good place to start.
Kincaid’s ongoing emergence at Utah was impressive. His size and athleticism made him a threat across the middle and in the red zone, which is further reflected in the player’s 16 touchdowns over his final two college campaigns.
If Kincaid wanted to finish on a high, he accomplished this and more against USC. The prospect completely took over the game en route to an upset triumph for the Utes, which made analysts across the country sit up and take notice.
While Kincaid has work to do in terms of blocking, that shouldn’t put off the Commanders from taking him if he’s still around on Day 2.
