Commanders must monitor Broderick Jones

  • Offensive Tackle | Georgia Bulldogs

It’s not just on the offensive line interior where the Washington Commanders need reinforcements. Acquiring a premier edge protector is another option via the draft, which is normally the cheapest solution for long-term stability.

This is a deep class at the position once again – especially at the top end. Arguably the best of the bunch is Broderick Jones, who enjoyed a phenomenal final campaign with the Georgia Bulldogs en route to their second-consecutive national championship.

Jones has the prototypical size and length to immediately start. His hands are heavy and the former five-star high school recruit’s footwork also came on significantly in 2022 for good measure.

The proof is in production. Jones didn’t give up a single sack last season and brings ruthless finishing capabilities that overwhelmed almost every edge rusher unfortunate enough to come in his path.

There are some technical aspects of Jones’ game that need slight refinement, most notably his upright stance in pass-blocking sets on occasion. But this is more a case of fine-tuning rather than anything drastic.

Jones could test extremely well at the NFL Scouting Combine. This means that the lineman could be well gone by the time Washington goes on the clock.
