4 free agents Eric Bieniemy might want for the Commanders in 2023

Commanders could target D.J. Chark
- Wide Receiver | Detroit Lions
Even though Eric Bieniemy was reportedly happy with the offensive pieces on the Washington Commanders – Sam Howell included – during his lengthy discussions according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, no team can ever have enough skill position stars in pursuit of playoff football.
This could lead the Commanders into signing another wide receiver to complement the riches already at Bieniemy’s disposal. Going down the draft route would be the cheaper option, but someone with the capabilities of D.J. Chark offers something different from a size and physicality standpoint to anything on Washington’s roster currently.
Chark made the most of his opportunities with the Detroit Lions last season, accumulating 30 receptions for 502 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The wideout did miss six games due to injury, but that shouldn’t put the Commanders off considering the presence of Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Jahan Dotson already on the books.
Now that Bieniemy is in Washington, they’ll likely become an attractive destination for veterans on offense looking to take that next leap forward. Perhaps some individuals would even take less money for the opportunity to join one of the most respected offensive minds around.
Chark has the size to impact proceedings across the middle. His ability to stretch the field is something else that could entice Bieniemy if Detroit allows him to leave.
