Which Washington Commanders players might new assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy want to keep around in 2023?

The Washington Commanders are well placed to take a leap forward in 2023 now they have Eric Bieniemy running the offense. Although it’s seen as a sideways step by many, adding a little more context to his new role is crucial.

In addition to his responsibilities as offensive coordinator, Bieniemy will also be a trusted aid of Ron Rivera in an assistant head coaching capacity. This should allow a huge say in the staff working under him and also provide a leading voice in personnel matters for good measure.

If Bieniemy hits it off with his newfound duties and Washington returns to the postseason, it could be enough for another team to give him the long-awaited top job he’s so richly deserving of. For now, the Commanders stand to benefit greatly.

Without further ado, here are four Commanders players Bieniemy might want to keep around in 2023.

Chase Roullier – Commanders OL

The Washington Commanders have some upgrading to do across their offensive line this offseason. However, it might be worth keeping some sort of continuity as Eric Bieniemy looks to hit the ground running.

One potential cap casualty after June 1 is Chase Roullier. The center has proven production from a starting role, but injuries have restricted his contribution to a minimal one over the last two campaigns.

If Roullier proves his fitness and can remain on the field, this is a player that could help Bieniemy and new quarterback Sam Howell next season.
