Jahan Dotson – Commanders WR

Even though the Washington Commanders had Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel, it did not stop them from drafting Jahan Dotson in the first round last year. It was seen as a luxury pick by many, but the player quickly set about providing he was more than deserving of such a high selection.

Dotson looked the part on the offensive rotation in 2022. This is in spite of some serious quarterback complications that stemmed from Washington’s decision to acquire Carson Wentz via trade.

With Sam Howell or someone else leading the charge next season, Dotson should get more opportunities to shine. If the wideout can improve his catch consistency with better distribution, it would be a shock if his numbers didn’t dramatically surge when competitive action resumes once again.

The former Penn State stud is a polished route-runner that can get the point at its highest point despite being 5-foot-11. Learning how to cope with more physically imposing cornerbacks is the next big step for Dotson, but he’s got a fine mentor in McLaurin and also has the benefit of a new offensive coordinator capable of maximizing his impressive skill set.

Dotson has all the intangibles needed to become a true star at the wide receiver position. If the Commanders reinforce their offensive line and become more creative from a play-calling standpoint, they might just become a dark horse postseason challenger.
