The Commanders find themselves in a precarious situation heading into the 2023-2024 season, but is there a path to competitiveness?

Despite hitting a mid-season heater and finishing the season at 8-8-1, the Commanders missed the postseason and it may not be getting any easier for them with questions swirling around the future of the team, specifically at quarterback.

With uncertainty at the position, it was clear last year that Carson Wentz nor Taylor Heinicke can lead this team to a deep playoff run, the Commanders are seen as longshots to make noise next season.

Here’s the early Super Bowl 58 odds.

Who will play quarterback for the Commanders in 2024?

Quarterback is the most important position in football, and the Commanders don’t have a clear answer as to who they will have under center in Week 1 of next season. As of now, it’s Sam Howell, who showed promise in his first career start in Week 18 against the Cowboys, leading Washington to a win, but he will be the fourth best quarterback in the division by a wide margin.

The Commanders are on the verge of signing Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to help fix an offense that was 24th in points per game and bottom half of the league in yards per game.

With an unproven product at quarterback, it’s a tough sell on taking the Commanders to win the Super Bowl, but the team will bank on a fully healthy Chase Young to bolster the team’s pass rush and talented wide receiver Terry McLaurin to help set the tone in a competitive NFC East.
