3 Commanders rumors that might not come true in 2023

Dan Snyder won’t sell the Commanders
For a while, I was actually tracking all the rumors about how a sale was imminent. Everyone was reading the tea leaves – and tracking the yacht. Of course, none of that has come to pass.
You can slam me all your want for this because I’m the guy who wrote four or five months ago that Dan Snyder would not sell any time soon. The weight of circumstantial evidence eventually convinced me he is interested in selling, but we have made so many assumptions with regard to his mindset. And I suspect very few people really know what he’s thinking.
But I do know this. He wants a boatload of money. Monopoly money. Scrooge McDuck money.
Snyder is going out in a rather humiliating fashion, but you know what eases that humiliation? The richest deal in professional sports history. And he’s going to get it.
The Denver Broncos, Phoenix Suns, and Chelsea FC have all sold in the four-to-five billion dollar range of late. It has been reported that Snyder wants $7 billion to sell the Washington Commanders.
Contrary to what you may have seen on Succession, it takes a long time to put that kind of deal together. Snyder will wait. He has no incentive not to.
Unless he does. That’s the thing that none of us will know.
Some people predicted the sale would follow quickly on the heels of the Super Bowl. The reasoning went that the NFL didn’t want this to overshadow the big game.
The deal was all worked out and Snyder was simply waiting out of courtesy to the league, which seemed highly unlikely considering the current relationship between both parties.
Maybe he does have other mounting issues which require some fast cash. If so, I suppose Snyder could close the deal sooner rather than later. I just don’t think that’s in the cards.
But remember – I’m not an insider.
