Which Washington Commanders players could end up making major strides during the 2023 season?

Even though the Washington Commanders didn’t make the postseason within an ultra-competitive NFC East, all hope is not lost. This is a team with plenty of talent on both sides of the football, so all it needs is some fine-tuning throughout an important offseason for the organization.

If those in power come up with the right answers – especially at the much-maligned quarterback position – it’s all systems go. Especially if some already on the roster make improvements of their own in the coming months.

While the Commanders have some questions to answer off the field, fans can relax safe in the knowledge they are building a competitive team under Ron Rivera, who’s overcome tremendous adversity since becoming head coach. Something that’s gained widespread plaudits for his commitment from around the league as a result.

With that being said, here are three Commanders players that could make major strides in 2023.

Sam Howell – Commanders QB

After finally getting a chance to shine in Week 18 against the Dallas Cowboys, a situation could emerge where Sam Howell becomes a legitimate option for the Washington Commanders in 2023. The quarterback has all the talent in the world, it’s just a case of how much Ron Rivera trusts him ahead of his crucial third season as head coach.

Howell must demonstrate growth and evolve further into a leader within the locker room. If he can accomplish this, then becoming the team’s No. 1 option under center cannot be dismissed.
