What bombshell trades could the Washington Commanders contemplate over the 2023 offseason?

Even though the Washington Commanders finished a respectable 8-8-1 this season, there is much hard work ahead for those in power. The NFC East had three playoff teams and a potential Super Bowl winner emerge in 2022, so sitting on their hands is simply not an option looking at how the division might shake out next time around.

This is something the front office is aware of. And in fairness, there is more than enough talent across the roster to suggest improvements can arrive with a few new faces in key positional groups.

Washington’s thought process is likely to center around finding a franchise quarterback in some way, shape, or form. A task that proved complicated last year thanks in no small part to their failed trade for Carson Wentz, who’s set to be released when the time comes.

Going bold is another option to consider. With this in mind, here are four bombshell trades the Commanders could contemplate in 2023.

Commanders could trade for Darren Waller

While quarterback could be the most likely scenario, the Washington Commanders might also want veteran assistance at other positions in pursuit of a playoff return. Someone like Darren Waller represents a difference-maker that might be available if the price is right.

Speculation that the stud tight end is on the trade block is gathering pace. Although he’s suffered his fair share of injury problems, Waller is one of the league’s best pass-catchers at the position and represents a significant upgrade on Logan Thomas.
