The Dallas Cowboys still have an outside shot at winning the NFC East, but if not they’re still in the playoffs. That ship has sailed for the Commanders, even if Ron Rivera didn’t know that it was leaving.

Taylor Heinicke just couldn’t stop turning the ball over and then Carson Wentz was even worse, so now it’s Sam Howell time in Washington and a rookie quarterback is at least a reason to tune in. Trust me I watched every snap of Kenny Pickett when the Steelers were 2-6 and now my team is fighting for the playoffs. I’m just dropping in from Betsided to win Commanders fans some money and give you a little bit of hope for the young guy.

Now, here’s my favorite prop plays

Best NFL Prop Bets for Cowboys vs. Commanders

Sam Howell Anytime Touchdown +430
Ceedee Lamb Anytime Touchdown +135
Cowboys -3.5 vs. Commanders First Half (-119)

Sam Howell Anytime Touchdown +430

I watched a ton of this quarterback class last spring before the draft because my Steelers needed a quarterback and I’ll be honest I didn’t love what I saw from Howell. Granted it had a lot to do with his lack of weapons in his last year at North Carolina, but he became a one read and run guy that last year. Now, he’ll have fantastic weapons in Washington with Terry McLaurin, Jahon Dotson, and Curtis Samuel, but against an aggressive and creative defense like Dallas I think he’ll revert back to using his legs. A lot of young quarterbacks do that in their first NFL start, but Howell runs the ball well enough that I think he’ll be able to keep the chains moving and even score on the ground.

Ceedee Lamb Anytime Touchdown +135

The last time these teams played was very early in the year when Cooper Rush was still making starts for Dallas, but Lamb even killed Washington then. Now with Dak back and the season over for Washington, they’ll have an even tougher time covering the Cowboys No. 1 weapon on the outside. Last week the Browns only threw the ball nine times and Amari Cooper ended with over 100 yards and a touchdown for Cleveland.

Cowboys -3.5 vs. Commanders First Half (-119)

Maybe Howell will be able to burst onto the scene and have a lot of success against one of the league’s best defenses, but the more likely outcome is that he struggles. Kenny Pickett’s first action came in the second half against the Jets and he threw three interceptions. Malik Willis went 5/16 for 80 yards in his first start, Desmond Ridder didn’t throw for 100 yards in his first start, Brock Purdy was the only rookie to have success right from the jump and he has Kyle Shanahan holding his hand. I’d be surprised if Howell lit up the Cowboys this week.
