The Washington Commanders are finally garnering respect from the general media. It’s nothing less than what a roster with this much talent deserves. Knocking on the door of the playoffs, it’s crazy to think Washington (yes, the Washington Football franchise) was flexed into primetime in a box-office Week 15 slate.

The Commanders’ front office has taken slings and arrows from fans and the local media for their roster-building prowess, or lack thereof. But their ability to identify talent cannot be questioned.

Whether it be players on the current rosters, or players who’ve passed through Washington over the years, the front office has done a really solid job of adding talent … even though they’ve swung and missed here and there.

In fact, Washington’s DNA can be found throughout the NFL. With that in mind, here are a trio of former Commanders who’ve found success elsewhere in 2022.

3. Morgan Moses (Ravens)

The Commanders release of Moses in the 2021 offseason saved nearly $8 million against the cap, and allowed them to get younger at the position. It initially looked like a great decision, as 2021 second-round pick Sam Cosmi was an instant success at right tackle; the position Moses manned for seven years in D.C.

Cosmi has since struggled with injuries, and swing tackle Cornelius Lucas hasn’t exactly been a bookend replacement, but we digress.

After a one-year pitstop in Florham Park, Moses signed with the Ravens in the offseason, and has enjoyed another rock-solid season. While Baltimore’s been the definition of inconsistent this campaign, Moses has epitomized consistency at right tackle, logging exemplary grades across the board from PFF.

  • 77.2 player grade
  • 78.9 run-blocking grade
  • 77.2 pass-blocking grade

Moses has started all 13 games for the Ravens, allowing just 13 pressures, zero quarterback hits, four sacks and nine hurries. His seven penalties are a lot, but you’ll trade the occasional hold/false start for that kind of production.

Now 31 years old, it’d be nice if Washington’s former third-round pick can find a stable home for the remainder of his prime.

Maybe Baltimore is that place.
